Solidarity Presence (aka Protective Presence) is an activist practice used in conflict zones from Minneapolis to Palestine and beyond. Historically, and in theory, unarmed civilian protectors protect vulnerable communities by putting their physical bodies between regular people and violent actors of the state. Sadly, presence doesn’t always protect, yet activists are still showing up in solidarity with folks facing unbearable conditions on the ground.

olives & sheep is cautiously building this map, as a specific use case of our place-based archive, in coordination with activists, journalists, landowners and residents in the Occupied West Bank.
